Letterkenny Christmas Lights Switch On ()

Letterkenny Christmas Lights Switch On

Letterkenny was lit us last Friday 25th for Christmas. This family event was the first large scale event since 2019 and it didn’t disappoint.

The event will began at 6.30pm with entertainment on stage at Market Centre. MC Keith Fletcher, dressed in one of his amazing Christmas suits, got the big crowd going with Christmas tunes. The Pinehill Studio dancers performed after the New Land Choir conducted by Future Moyo. We had some songs from the ever popular Joe Gibson and the winner of the ShopLK Christmas Art Competition Leah Crossan from Glenswilly National School got to push the plunger to make the lights go on.

Santa arrived on his magical sleigh accompanied by his elves and the Letterkenny Senior Accordion Band.

The President of Letterkenny Chamber, Kristine Reynolds said, “There’s nothing better than seeing families gather together on the Main Street to celebrate the start of the Christmas season. We loved seeing all the Children and their families and they were so excited to meet Santa.”

The Mayor Donal “Mandy” Kelly thanked everyone for coming and congratulated Leah on winning the art competition. “The Christmas switch on reminds us that Christmas is an important shopping season and if possible keep it local. The retailers are there to provide all we need for a fantastic Christmas season.”

Letterkenny Chamber appreciates the support of Donegal County Council in running this event and in supporting the Christmas Lights.
